In 1998, Frédéric Chaudière wrote an initial article that was published in the international magazine The Strad. From then on, he has continued to collaborate with the monthly magazine on a regular basis. In June 2002, his article on the 1742 Guarnerius Alard made the cover. Since that time, he has written articles about the violins played by invited soloists for Radio France concert programs.
In 2003, he decided to write the incredible, yet real, story of the 1713 Gibson Stradivarius. Frédéric Chaudière was able to gather important information about the instrument during the 6 months it spent in his workshop, and through the trust-filled relationship he established with the violin’s owner Norbert Brainin, and Charles Beare, the expert who identified the violin following its 50 years of wild night-life!
The novel covers the entire life span of this legendary violin, from the Fiemme Valley where the spruce tree with the wood for its top was cut down in 1706, up to today. The adventure includes historical figures such as Stradivari, Vivaldi, Einstein, Paganini and even Jimi Hendrix.
Tribulations of a Stradivarius in America (Actes Sud) was well received by critics. The book is available in French , German and hungarian. In June 2008, the book was released in paperback by Babel.
