Sculpture

Sculpture is a family affair. Frédéric’s grandfather was a sculptor and the assistant of Fernand Léger; his father, his uncle and his mother are accomplished sculptors.
Frédéric’s sculptures, his “Indigènes”, have youthful faces modelled in stoneware and bodies of wood gnawed by time. Together they form a tribe, at the centre of which music is performed.

Indigènes

Indigènes is a group of figurative sculptures created between 1995 and 2005. The faces are made of stoneware and the bases of old oak. The tribe has served as the set for shows at the Radio France Festival and the Printemps des Comédiens. It has also been exhibited in New York, Salzburg, Paris, London and Vienna.

Grafts

These assemblages of raw wood and pieces of damaged violins seek to combine nature and culture in a single work. The raw wood may be birch bark, a piece of oak or of wild cherry.
